WHAT ARE IGNITION CABLES?
Have you ever stopped to think about what happens to your car when you turn the key in the ignition? The process of starting the vehicle happens quickly, however, it involves many parts, such as the ignition cables. They are part of the ignition system, which has undergone many modifications to make it more effective and adapt to the standards and needs of drivers, however, the ignition cables are present and are important for you to be able to drive your vehicle. DO QUE SÃO FEITOS OS CABOS DE IGNIÇÃO?
Before learning more about their functions, it is important to highlight that they are complex parts with components responsible for efficient spark formation:
Conductor core: It is the internal wire that conducts high voltage electrical current to the spark plug. It is generally made of copper or another conductive material with low electrical resistance.
Wire cover: To ensure safety and protect the conductive core, ignition cables have an insulating cover, made of heat-resistant rubber or silicone, protecting the inner wire against damage and external interference. Spark Plug Terminal: This is the part of the ignition wire that connects directly to the spark plug. It is designed to provide a secure and accurate connection, ensuring that electrical current is transmitted without loss.
Ignition coil terminal: On the other side of the ignition wires, we have the terminal that connects to the ignition coil. It is designed to transmit electrical current efficiently, ensuring optimized performance of the ignition system. External coating: To protect the ignition cables against mechanical wear, heat and humidity, they have an external coating. This coating is generally made of silicone, which resists adverse engine and environmental conditions.
